Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Doha: Qatar Club and Al Gharafa. Qatar Club smashed visiting Al Gharafa by 18 points 93-75. Qatar Club looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists. American guard Brian Halums (196-1997, college: UAFS, agency: Interperformances) notched 39 points (!!!), 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and Serbian Dejan Janjic (198-1995) supported him with 32 points and 4 assists. Even 28 points and 4 assists by American guard Kenny Brown (188-1991, college: Ferris St., agency: SLN) did not help to save the game for Al Gharafa. Senegalese forward Ousseynou Mbow (195-1997) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the guests. Qatar Club's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Rayyan.
