Regular Season Round 27: Al Arabi - Al Ahli 63-90
Date: February 16, 2022
Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Doha: Al Ahli (#3) and Al Arabi (#6). Al Arabi was crushed at home by 27 points 63-90 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Al Ahli forced 19 Al Arabi turnovers and outrebounded them 46-34 including 19 on the offensive glass. It was a good game for American forward Antwaine Wiggins (203-1988, college: Charleston, agency: BIG) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds. International forward Ndoye Seydou (205-1999) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Four Al Ahli players scored in double figures. American guard Charles Hinkle (198-1988, college: American) answered with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Nick West (210-1994, college: AAMU) added 12 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks in the effort for Al Arabi. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Al Ahli (8-3) moved-up to second place, which they share with Al Sadd. Al Arabi at the other side keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
