Regular Season Round 19: Al Sadd - Al Rayyan 86-73

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Al Sadd as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Al Sadd defeated bottom-ranked Al Rayyan in Doha 86-73. Al Sadd dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Al Rayyan's 30. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Byron Ashe (186-95, college: Longwood) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 9 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals. International forward Babacar Dieng (197-97) helped adding 26 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side DR Congolese-Canadian guard Myck Kabongo (190-92, college: Texas) responded with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and international center Meho Haracic (213-98) scored 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Al Sadd and five Al Rayyan players scored in double figures. Al Sadd have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Al Wakrah and Al Shamal. Al Rayyan at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
