Regular Season Round 9: Terrafirma Dyip - SM Beermen 110-132

Not a big story in a game in Makati City where 10th ranked Terrafirma Dyip (2-8) was rolled over by fourth ranked SM Beermen (7-3) 132-110 on Sunday. SM Beermen looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Bennie Boatwright (208-1996, college: USC) who had a double-double by scoring 51 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds. Guard Celedonio Trollano (191-1992) chipped in 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was Belgian forward Thomas De Thaey (203-1991, college: NC State) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists and Javier Gomez De Liano (195-1998) added 26 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. SM Beermen have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Meralco Bolts and Ginebra Kings. Terrafirma Dyip lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with eight games lost. SM Beermen will meet at home Blackwater (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Terrafirma Dyip will play against Meralco Bolts in Manila and hope to secure a win.
