Twelfth-rankedFiberXers (0-6) were very close to win a game against second ranked Phoenix (5-1) in Quezon on Saturday. Phoenix managed to secure only one-point victory 99-98 . However their fans expected much easier game. Phoenix dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to FiberXers ' 50. 28 personal fouls committed by FiberXers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American power forward Johnathan Williams III (206-1995, college: Gonzaga, agency: Slash Sports) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists. Naturalized American forward Jason Perkins (193-1992, college: VCSU) contributed with 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. New Zealand forward Thomas Vodanovich (201-1994, college: JMU) answered with 35 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds and Bryan Santos added 11 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for FiberXers. Four FiberXers players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Phoenix have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 5-1 record behind leader Hotshots. FiberXers at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost.
