Regular Season Round 15: Phoenix - Hotshots 80-90

Rather expected game in Quezon where 5th ranked Phoenix (5-5) was defeated by third ranked Hotshots (7-1) 90-80 on Saturday. Hotshots forced 21 Phoenix turnovers and outrebounded them 54-38 including 39 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was Serbian-American forward Nick Rakocevic (211-1997, college: USC, agency: Pensack Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 18 rebounds. Naturalized American forward Calvin Abueva (190-1988) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Hotshots players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized American forward Sean Anthony (193-1986) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and American power forward Kaleb Wesson (208-1999, college: Ohio St.) added 9 points and 18 rebounds respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Hotshots maintains third place with 7-1 record behind leader Bay Area D. Loser Phoenix keeps the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with North Port. Hotshots will meet at home SM Beermen (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Phoenix will have a break next round.
