Regular Season Round 11: Blackwater Elite - Ginebra Kings 100-109

Bottom-ranked Blackwater Elite (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 109-100 loss to eighth ranked Ginebra Kings (4-4) in Caloocan City on Friday evening. Ginebra Kings outrebounded Blackwater Elite 43-32 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Justin Brownlee (197-1988, college: St.John's) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Scottie Thompson (188-1993) helped adding 16 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Brownlee is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Point guard Jayvee Casio (178-1986) responded with 27 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and American forward Shawn Glover (201-1990, college: ORU, agency: Haylett Sports) scored 29 points and 6 rebounds. Five Ginebra Kings and four Blackwater Elite players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Ginebra Kings moved-up to sixth place, which they share with TNT Ka Tropa and Phoenix. Loser Blackwater Elite still closes the standings with eight games lost. Ginebra Kings will meet at home Terrafirma Dyip (#11) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Blackwater Elite will play against North Port in Pasig and hopes to get finally their first victory.
