The game between closely ranked teams ended with 7th ranked Rain or Shine's (3-4) road loss to sixth ranked Alaska Aces (4-2) in Makati 74-80 on Thursday. Alaska Aces dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Rain or Shine's 24. The winners were led by Nigerian-Canadian Olu Ashaolu (200-1988, college: Oregon) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 23 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Robbie Herndon (191-1993, college: SF State) supported him with 9 points and 14 rebounds. Even a double-double of 25 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists by American swingman Henry Walker (198-1987, college: Kansas St.) did not help to save the game for Rain or Shine. Michael Nieto (188-1997) added 13 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Alaska Aces moved-up to fourth place. Loser Rain or Shine dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. Alaska Aces will meet Terrafirma Dyip (#10) in the next round where they are favorite. Rain or Shine's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Manila Meralco Bolts.
