Regular Season Round 7: Meralco Bolts - NLEX RW 110-100

Round in PBA means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Manila where host Meralco Bolts (3-0) beat league's leader NLEX RW (4-2) 110-100 on Friday evening. Meralco Bolts outrebounded NLEX RW 47-33 including 32 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Panamanian forward Tony Bishop (201-89, college: Texas St., agency: 011 Sports) fired a double-double by scoring 32 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Guard Chris Newsome (187-90, college: Georgetown, KY) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds. American swingman KJ McDaniels (198-93, college: Clemson) produced a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds and point guard Kevin Alas (183-91) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Meralco Bolts and four NLEX RW players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Meralco Bolts have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place. NLEX RW at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Hotshots. NLEX RW will play next round against Blackwater Elite trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Meralco Bolts will try to continue on its current victory against eleventh ranked North Port in Pasig.
