Everything went according to plan in Caloocan City where eighth ranked Phoenix (4-5) outscored bottom-ranked Blackwater Elite (0-9) 114-92 on Saturday. Phoenix outrebounded Blackwater Elite 50-37 including 18 on the offensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 19 long-distance shots on high 52.8 percentage. Phoenix looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Naturalized Canadian guard Matthew Wright (193-91, college: St.Bonaventure) fired 16 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Center Justin Chua (198-89) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. Five Phoenix players scored in double figures. Guard Mike Tolomia (191-93) produced 23 points and 5 rebounds and guard Eduardo Daquioag (180-91) added 10 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Phoenix moved-up to seventh place, which they share with NLEX RW. Loser Blackwater Elite still closes the standings with nine games lost.
