Regular Season Round 24: Antranik - Sagesse 62-99
Date: March 31, 2023
Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Beirut: Sagesse (#2) and Antranik (#8). Antranik was smashed at home by 37 points 62-99 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Sagesse dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Antranik's 20 and made 16-of-19 charity shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Antranik 47-26 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sagesse players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Antranik's players. The winners were led by the former international guard Sergio El Darwich (193-1996, college: Maine) who scored that evening 20 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists and the former international point guard Marc Khoueiry (185-2001) supported him with 20 points and 5 rebounds. Four Sagesse players scored in double figures. Sagesse's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 14 points and 6 rebounds by Ahmad Ekkewi did not help to save the game for Antranik. Albert Maroun added 12 points. Sagesse (20-2) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain second position behind leader Dynamo. Antranik lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth place with 14 games lost.
