Regular Season Round 7: Aktobe - Barsy Atyr. 79-30

Bottom-ranked Barsy Atyr. (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 79-30 loss to sixth ranked Aktobe (3-4) in Aktobe on Wednesday evening. They held Barsy Atyr. to an opponent 19.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 42.2 percent accuracy of the winners. Aktobe forced 20 Barsy Atyr. turnovers and outrebounded them 57-26 including a 23-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Barsy Atyr.'s players. It was a great evening for Russian Olga Aksenova (187-1996) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks. Forward Ksenia Korobkova (175-2003) helped adding 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Aktobe players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Vera Pak (170-2005) responded with 9 points and guard Julia Kovalchuk (161-2007) scored 8 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Aktobe maintains sixth place with 3-4 record. Barsy Atyr. lost their seventh game in a row. Barsy Atyr. at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with seven games lost. Aktobe will meet league's leader Turan in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Barsy Atyr. will play against Tomiris (#3) in Almaty and hopes to get finally their first victory.
