Regular Season Round 20: Barsy Atyrau - Aktobe 102-89

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Aktobe (3-19) was defeated on the road by second ranked Barsy Atyrau (16-4) 102-89 on Wednesday. Barsy Atyrau shot 60.3 percent from the field and made 18-of-18 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. Barsy Atyrau forced 19 Aktobe turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. Barsy Atyrau looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Ryan Cook (191-90, college: UMBC) who scored 27 points and 4 assists. Russian forward Pavel Sizov (200-95) chipped in 22 points and 7 rebounds. Cook is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Kent Hanson (198-97, college: Carleton) produced 20 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 steals and forward Vassiliy Petrishinets (198-89) added 21 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Five Aktobe players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Barsy Atyrau maintains second position with 16-4 record having just four point less than leader Astana. Newly promoted Aktobe stay dead last with 19 lost games. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
