Regular Season Round 43: Nagasaki - Nagoya DD 94-82

There was a surprise result when sixth ranked Nagasaki (17-25) won against at home much higher ranked Dolphins (28-16) 94-82 on Wednesday. Nagasaki forced 22 Nagoya DD turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Matt Bonds (196-1995, college: St.Michael's) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. His fellow American import power forward Nick Perkins (203-1996, college: Buffalo) accounted for 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Four Nagasaki players scored in double figures. American power forward Scott Eatherton (208-1991, college: Northeastern) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international point guard Takumi Saito (172-1995) added 17 points and 6 assists respectively for Nagoya DD in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Nagasaki maintains sixth place with 17-25 record. Loser Dolphins keeps the second position with 16 games lost. Nagasaki will meet at home higher ranked Saga B. (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nagoya DD will play against Shimane SM and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
