Regular Season Round 23: Shiga L-Stars - Fukushima 105-108

Top ranked Lakestars (25-9) recorded its ninth loss in Shiga on Sunday night. Hosts were edged by fifth ranked Firebonds (13-21) 108-105. Fukushima made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Strangely Shiga L-Stars outrebounded Fukushima 45-33 including 19 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Shiga L-Stars helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Lithuanian forward Rapolas Ivanauskas (208-1998, college: Cincinnati) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Daiki Tsuchiya (173-2000) chipped in 19 points and 5 assists. Australian forward Brock Motum (208-1990, college: WSU, agency: Slash Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and American-German power forward Ryan Kriener (208-1998, college: Iowa, agency: Pensack Sports) added 21 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Five Fukushima and four Shiga L-Stars players scored in double figures. Lakestars' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Fukushima maintains fifth place with 13-21 record. Shiga L-Stars at the other side still keep top position with nine games lost. Fukushima are looking forward to face Niigata A. (#7) at home in the next round. Shiga L-Stars will play against the league's second-placed Kumamoto V. (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
