There was an upset when higher rankedTachikawa (14-15) was defeated at home by seventeenth ranked Shinagawa (8-21) 88-81 on Saturday. Shinagawa forced 24 Tachikawa turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Shinagawa made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was guard Ikumi Takahashi (186-1998) who scored 26 points and 7 assists. U.S. Virgin Islands forward Shaquan Jules (201-1999, college: Radford) chipped in 27 points and 6 rebounds. American power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-1990, college: Oklahoma, agency: Octagon Europe) produced 19 points and 8 rebounds and guard Yoshiki Ametani (190-1999) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Tachikawa players scored in double figures. Tachikawa's coach Takeo Mabashi rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Shinagawa moved-up to sixteenth place. Newly promoted Tachikawa keeps the eighth position with 15 games lost. Shinagawa will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tachikawa will play again against Shinagawa (#16) and hope to secure a win.
