Regular Season Round 6: Niigata R. - Aishin AW 63-69

Bottom-ranked Niigata R. (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 69-63 loss to ninth ranked Aishin AW (2-4) in Tokyo on Sunday evening. Senegalese forward Sanbu Astu (180-1999) had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and June Mineharu (171-1999) chipped in 22 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) during the contest. Four Aishin AW players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was swingman Akari Honda (177-2000) with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Hideka Kanazawa (180-2000) scored 14 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Aishin AW moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Yamanashi QB and Aranmare A. Loser Niigata R. still closes the standings with six games lost. They share the position with Himeji E.. Aishin AW will meet at home higher ranked Toyota A. (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Niigata R.'s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tokyo to the arena Haneda V..
