Regular Season Round 8: Tachikawa - Saitama 95-90

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Tachikawa and 6th ranked Saitama had identical 5-2 record. This time Tachikawa used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Saitama 95-90 on Sunday night. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Tachikawa made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Strangely Saitama outrebounded Tachikawa 37-21 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-1990, college: Oklahoma, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording 23 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and guard Yoshiki Ametani (190-1999) who added 17 points during the contest. American power forward Ryan Watkins (206-1991, college: Boise St., agency: Slash Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) and naturalized American center Will Creekmore (205-1989, college: Missouri St.) scored 19 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Tachikawa and four Saitama players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Tachikawa (6-2) keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Saitama dropped to the fifth place with three games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Tachikawa will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Saitama will play against Kanazawa (#17) and hope to secure a win.
