Regular Season Round 5: Kagoshima - Yamaguchi 95-101

Date: October 21, 2023
Yamaguchi can celebrate their first win this season after four consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Kagoshima (3-2) on the road game in Renova 101-95. Yamaguchi had a 35-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Yamaguchi especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. The game was dominated by American players. Swingman Jelan-Miguel Kendrick (201-1991, college: UNLV, agency: Interperformances) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists. Guard Desmond Jackson (185-1992, college: AAMU) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks for the winners. Five Yamaguchi players scored in double figures. Swingman Anthony Gaines Jr. (195-1993, college: LCU) answered with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists and 7 steals and Kyle Richardson (200-1991, college: Portland St.) added 26 points and 16 rebounds in the effort for Kagoshima. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Yamaguchi (1-4) left bottom position moving up to fourteenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Kagoshima at the other side dropped to the seventh position with two games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Yamaguchi will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Kagoshima will play again at home against Yamaguchi (#17) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
