Regular Season Round 3: Toyoda - Yamaguchi 89-85

There was no surprise when Yamaguchi (0-3) lost to Toyoda (2-1) in Aichi 85-89 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Toyoda dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Yamaguchi's 42. They outrebounded Yamaguchi 47-28 including 34 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for Australian center Andrew Ferguson (213-1998, college: CS Monterey) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Guamanian-American guard Earnest Ross (198-1991, college: Missouri, agency: Haylett Sports) accounted for 19 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. Four Toyoda players scored in double figures. Toyoda's coach Kensaku Tennichi used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Issei Tomida (188-1998) came up with 28 points and American forward Deandre Abram (203-1997, college: Milwaukee) added 25 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Yamaguchi in the defeat. Toyoda will again meet at home Yamaguchi (#18) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Yamaguchi will have a break next round.
