Regular Season Round 48: Tachikawa - Shanan Utd 86-65
Date: April 1, 2023
There was a small surprise when fifteenth ranked Tachikawa (13-36) outscored at home 13th ranked Shanan Utd (15-34) 86-65 on Saturday. Tachikawa looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Shanan Utd's players. The best player for the winners was American center Emondre Rickman (208-1996, college: Indiana St., agency: One Motive Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. The other American import forward Scott Blakney (203-1998, college: Montana) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. Four Tachikawa players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Chris Olivier (202-1992, college: OK State, agency: Octagon Europe) who recorded a double-double by scoring 31 points and 12 rebounds and guard Shogo Taira (170-1997) added 8 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tachikawa moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Yamaguchi. Shanan Utd at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the eleventh position with 34 games lost. They share it with Kanazawa and Tokyo HT. Tachikawa will again meet at home higher ranked Shanan Utd (#13) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Shanan Utd will have a break next round.
