Very important is a road loss of second ranked Koshigaya A. (36-13) against sixth ranked Yamagata (20-29) on Sunday night. Visiting Koshigaya A. was defeated by Yamagata in Yamagata 81-68. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Koshigaya A.. The best player for the winners was American center Thomas Welsh (213-1996, college: UCLA, agency: Pensack Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. His fellow American import James Bell (196-1992, college: Villanova, agency: Slash Sports) chipped in 12 points and 5 assists. Four Yamagata players scored in double figures. Yamagata's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Brekkott Chapman (206-1996, college: Weber St.) produced 26 points and 7 rebounds and guard Hayate Komasawa (188-1998) added 12 points and 8 assists respectively for the guests. Yamagata maintains sixth place with 20-29 record. Koshigaya A. at the other side keeps the second position with 13 games lost. Yamagata will meet at home Tokyo Z (#7) in the next round. Koshigaya A. will play against Aomori W. (#5) and hope to secure a win.
