Regular Season Round 37: Toyoda - Gifu 99-78

Everything could happen in Aichi at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Toyoda and 8th ranked Gifu had identical 15-22 record. This time Toyoda used a home court advantage and smashed the opponent from Gifu 99-78 on Sunday night. Strangely Gifu outrebounded Toyoda 41-24 including a 20-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Guamanian-American guard Earnest Ross (198-1991, college: Missouri, agency: Haylett Sports) fired 35 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds for the winners. Australian center Andrew Ferguson (213-1998, college: CS Monterey) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Jerrell Wright (204-1991, college: La Salle) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and Senegalese power forward Andre Sambou (203-1999) added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyoda (16-22) moved-up to eighth place. Gifu lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with 23 games lost. Toyoda are looking forward to face league's leader Shizuoka on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gifu will play against the league's second-placed Iwate (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
