Regular Season Round 38: Fukushima - Ehime OV 78-91

The most shocking disappointment of round 38 in the B2 League was a home defeat of 3rd ranked Fukushima (18-22) to fourth ranked Ehime OV (19-21) 91-78 in the game for the fourth place. Ehime OV dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Fukushima's 34 and made 28-of-34 free shots (82.4 percent) during the game, while Fukushima only scored eight points from the stripe. They outrebounded Fukushima 49-27 including a 38-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Ehime OV looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Fukushima helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American-German power forward Ryan Kriener (208-1998, college: Iowa, agency: Pensack Sports) had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and American power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-1990, college: Oklahoma, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 18 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Five Ehime OV players scored in double figures. Venezuelan center Gregory Echenique (206-1990, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and American forward Josh Harrellson (208-1989, college: Kentucky) scored 14 points and 4 assists. Fukushima's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Ehime OV maintains fourth position with 19-21 record which they share with defeated Fukushima. Fukushima at the other side dropped to the fourth place with 22 games lost. They share the position with Nishinomiya S.. Ehime OV will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Fukushima will play again at home against Ehime OV (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
