Regular Season Round 33: Tachikawa - Shizuoka 73-76

Fifteenth-ranked Tachikawa (9-25) gave a tough game to first ranked Shizuoka (30-4) on Sunday. The visitors from Shizuoka managed to secure only three-point victory 76-73. However their fans expected much easier game. Shizuoka made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game, while Tachikawa only scored three points from the stripe. American center Kenny Lawson (207-1988, college: Creighton) stepped up and scored 19 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Bahamas forward Tavario Miller (203-1994, college: Texas A&M) chipped in 12 points and 12 rebounds. Miller is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Shizuoka players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Tristin Walley (201-1996, college: Arkansas St., agency: One Motive Sports) with 12 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward Scott Blakney (203-1998, college: Montana) scored 6 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Shizuoka have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 30-4 record. Tachikawa lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the fourteenth position with 25 games lost. They share it with Yamaguchi. Shizuoka are looking forward to face Kanazawa (#13) in Ishikawa in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Tachikawa will play at home against Tokyo Utd and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
