Regular Season Round 32: Tachikawa - Shizuoka 50-67
Date: February 4, 2023
There was no surprise when 13th ranked Tachikawa (9-24) lost at home to second ranked Shizuoka (29-4) 67-50 on Saturday. Shizuoka forced 20 Tachikawa turnovers. The winners were led by Bahamas forward Tavario Miller (203-1994, college: Texas A&M) who scored that evening 9 points and 17 rebounds and American center Kenny Lawson (207-1988, college: Creighton) supported him with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Miller is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds by American forward Tristin Walley (201-1996, college: Arkansas St., agency: One Motive Sports) did not help to save the game for Tachikawa. His fellow American import forward Scott Blakney (203-1998, college: Montana) added 10 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Shizuoka keeps a position of league leader. Tachikawa lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the fourteenth place with 24 games lost. They share the position with Yamaguchi. Shizuoka will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tachikawa will play again against the league's leader Shizuoka (#1) and hope to secure a win.
