Everything went according to plan in Ishikawa where second ranked Iwate (22-4) outscored 9th ranked Kanazawa (9-17) 98-49 on Sunday. Iwate dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Kanazawa's 22. They outrebounded Kanazawa 44-29 including 33 on the defensive glass. Beninese power forward Muusa Dama (207-1996, college: EIU, agency: Blacktop Management) fired a double-double by scoring 28 points, 25 rebounds and 5 assists (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Point guard Masato Tsukino (178-1988) chipped in 13 points and 5 assists. Five Iwate players scored in double figures. Ukrainian forward Oleksandr Antypov (203-1995, agency: BIG) produced 20 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Yugo Okuda (176-1999) added 7 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Kanazawa's coach Hidesuke Kuroshima gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Iwate. They maintain second place with 22-4 record having just two points less than leader Shizuoka, which they share with Kagoshima. Loser Kanazawa dropped to the tenth position with 17 games lost. They share it with Veertien Mie. Iwate will meet at home Okayama (#6) in the next round. Kanazawa will play against Tokyo Utd (#7) and hope to secure a win.
