Regular Season Round 24: Kanazawa - Iwate 61-86
Date: January 7, 2023
Everything went according to plan in Ishikawa where second ranked Iwate (22-4) outleveled 9th ranked Kanazawa (9-17) 86-61 on Saturday. Iwate dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Kanazawa's 20. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Kristian Doolittle (201-1997, college: Oklahoma, agency: Pensack Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points, 16 rebounds and 8 assists and Beninese power forward Muusa Dama (207-1996, college: EIU, agency: Blacktop Management) who added 23 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Ukrainian forward Oleksandr Antypov (203-1995, agency: BIG) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Yugo Okuda (176-1999) scored 12 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Iwate have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 22-4 record having just two points less than leader Shizuoka, which they share with Kagoshima. Loser Kanazawa dropped to the tenth place with 17 games lost. They share the position with Veertien Mie. Iwate will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Kanazawa will play again against the league's second-placed Iwate (#2) and hope to secure a win.
