Very expected game in Okinawa where 8th ranked Ibaraki R. (5-13) was rolled over by first ranked Ryukyu GK (15-3) 94-63 on Sunday. Ryukyu GK outrebounded Ibaraki R. 47-22 including a 34-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 53.3 percentage. Ryukyu GK looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Ibaraki R.'s players. American power forward Allen Durham (198-1988, college: Grace Christian) scored 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import power forward Jack Cooley (206-1991, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) during the contest. Durham is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was American Eric Jacobsen (208-1994, college: Arizona St.) with 5 points and 9 assists and point guard Kohei Fukuzawa (177-1993) scored 13 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ryukyu GK have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 15-3 record. Loser Ibaraki R. dropped to the seventh place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Hokkaido L.. Ryukyu GK will meet at home Kyoto H. (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Ibaraki R. will play against the league's second-placed Alvark Tokyo and hope to secure a win.
