Regular Season Round 16: Ehime OV - Nagasaki 77-103

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Matsuyama. Second ranked Nagasaki faced 4th ranked Ehime OV. Guests from Nagasaki (13-6) smashed host Ehime OV (10-9) 103-77. Nagasaki made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Ehime OV turnovers. Strangely Ehime OV outrebounded Nagasaki 43-30 including a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Matt Bonds (196-1995, college: St.Michael's) who helped to win the game recording 34 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals (made all of his eight free throws) and the other American import swingman L.J. Peak (196-1996, college: Georgetown, agency: Pensack Sports) who added 12 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists during the contest. At the losing side American-German power forward Ryan Kriener (208-1998, college: Iowa) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 16 rebounds and American-Filipino forward Eugene Phelps (198-1990, college: LBSU) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Four Ehime OV players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Nagasaki have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted Nagasaki maintains second position with 13-6 record having just one point less than leader Saga B. Ehime OV lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with nine games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
