Regular Season Round 13: Ryukyu GK - Shimane SM 68-80

There was a small surprise when fourth ranked Shimane SM (10-3) won against leader Ryukyu GK (10-3) in Okinawa 80-68 on Sunday. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Shimane SM made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. American forward Perrin Buford (198-1994, college: MTSU, agency: Pensack Sports) nailed 29 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) for the winning side and Australian Nick Kay (206-1992, college: MSU Denver) accounted for 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. American power forward Jack Cooley (206-1991, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and the other American import power forward Allen Durham (198-1988, college: Grace Christian) added 16 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Ryukyu GK in the defeat. Ryukyu GK's coach Dai Oketani rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Shimane SM keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Ryukyu GK. Shimane SM will meet FE Nagoya (#5) on the road in the next round. Ryukyu GK will play against the league's leader Nagoya DD (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
