Regular Season Round 14: Kanazawa - Saitama 72-114
Date: November 26, 2022
Everything went according to plan when sixth ranked Saitama (11-5) outplayed 9th ranked Kanazawa (6-10) in Ishikawa 114-72 on Saturday. Saitama outrebounded Kanazawa 41-26 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American power forward Ryan Watkins (206-1991, college: Boise St., agency: Slash Sports) notched a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and the other American import center Will Creekmore (205-1989, college: Missouri St.) supported him with 23 points and 7 rebounds. Even a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds by Ukrainian forward Oleksandr Antypov (203-1995, agency: BIG) did not help to save the game for Kanazawa. Power forward Kota Yamamoto (204-1998) added 18 points for the hosts. Five Saitama and four Kanazawa players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Saitama have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 11-5 record. Kanazawa lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Shanan Utd. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
