Regular Season Round 11: Ryukyu GK - Shiga L-Stars 89-84
Date: November 20, 2022
Not a big story in a game in Okinawa where 8th ranked Shiga L-Stars (2-9) were defeated by third ranked Ryukyu GK (9-2) 89-84 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Ryukyu GK looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward Jack Cooley (206-1991, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 16 rebounds. His fellow American import power forward Allen Durham (198-1988, college: Grace Christian) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Durham is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Ryukyu GK's coach Dai Oketani used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Spanish center David Doblas (208-1981) produced 14 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and the former international guard Kai Toews (188-1998, college: UNCW) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ryukyu GK keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Shimane SM. Shiga L-Stars lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with nine games lost. Ryukyu GK will meet at home league's second-placed Shimane SM in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Shiga L-Stars will play against Nagoya DD (#4) and hope to secure a win.
