Regular Season Round 7: Shanan Utd - Kagoshima 92-87

Kagoshima (7-1) recorded its first loss in Kanagawa on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by eleventh ranked Shanan Utd (3-5) 92-87. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Kagoshima. Shanan Utd had a 27-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. Shanan Utd looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Steven Green (196-1993, college: OKBU) fired 35 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. His fellow American import center Daniel Giddens (213-1997, college: Vermont) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. Shanan Utd's coach Takeshi Hotta used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American swingman Anthony Gaines Jr (195-1993, college: LCU) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Yoshifumi Nakajima (176-1990) added 12 points, 7 assists and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Shanan Utd moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Kanazawa and Veertien Mie. Kagoshima at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. They share it with Iwate and Shizuoka. Shanan Utd is looking forward to face league's leader Okayama at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kagoshima will play against Saitama and is hoping to win this game.
