Regular Season Round 3: Kanazawa - Shizuoka 58-81
Date: October 8, 2022
Rather expected game in Ishikawa where Kanazawa (1-3) was crushed by Shizuoka (3-1) 81-58 on Saturday. Shizuoka dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Kanazawa's 20. They outrebounded Kanazawa 42-28 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Bahamas forward Tavario Miller (203-1994, college: Texas A&M) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. Mali forward Tahirou Diabate (206-1998, college: SDSU) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. Miller is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Shizuoka players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Ukrainian forward Oleksandr Antypov (203-1995, agency: BIG) who recorded 20 points and 8 rebounds and guard Takuto Kubo (186-1999) added 14 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Shizuoka will meet Gifu (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Kanazawa will play against Yokohama EX in Tokyo and hope to win that game.
