Regular Season Round 49: Tokyo HT - Shinagawa 93-96

There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Shinagawa (6-38) edged on the road higher ranked Tokyo HT (21-16) 96-93 on Sunday. Shinagawa had a 35-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. American center CJ Gettys (213-1994, college: Rutgers, agency: Haylett Sports) stepped up with a triple-double by scoring 24 points, 18 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners and guard Shogo Taira (170-1997) chipped in 20 points and 10 assists. Four Shinagawa players scored in double figures. Shinagawa's coach used entire bench in such tough game. At the losing side Senegalese forward Bamba Diouf (198-1993) responded with 32 points and 8 rebounds and American power forward John Fields (205-1988, college: Tennessee, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 5 points and 11 rebounds. Newly promoted Shinagawa maintains fourteenth place with 6-38 record. Loser Tokyo HT keeps the ninth position with 16 games lost. Shinagawa will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tokyo HT's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tokyo to the arena Yokohama EX.
