Regular Season Round 42: Shinagawa - Kagoshima 59-87
Date: March 4, 2022
There was no surprise when 14th ranked Shinagawa (3-33) was crushed at home by fourth ranked Kagoshima (27-7) 87-59. Kagoshima dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Shinagawa's 36 and made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Kagoshima forced 25 Shinagawa turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. It was a good game for American swingman Anthony Gaines Jr (195-1993, college: LCU) who led his team to a victory with 24 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. The other American import forward Christian Cunningham (201-1997, college: JSU) contributed with 25 points and 4 steals for the winners. American center C.J. Gettys (213-1994, college: Rutgers, agency: Haylett Sports) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Abu Philip (198-1997) added 14 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Shinagawa. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kagoshima have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Shinagawa lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth position with 33 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
