Everything went according to plan in Renova where third ranked Kagoshima (17-5) won against 7th ranked Saitama (13-9) 103-92 on Saturday. Kagoshima looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Swingman Anthony Gaines Jr (195-93, college: LCU) scored 37 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Christian Cunningham (201-97, college: JSU) chipped in 23 points and 11 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) during the contest. At the losing side power forward Ryan Watkins (206-91, college: Boise St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds and center Will Creekmore (205-89, college: Missouri St.) scored 14 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Saitama players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Kagoshima have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 17-5 record having just three points less than leader Nagasaki. Loser Saitama keeps the seventh place with nine games lost. They share the position with Aisin AW. Kagoshima will again meet at home Saitama (#7) in the next round. Saitama will have a break next round.
