Regular Season Round 20: Shinagawa - Tokyo HT 65-97
Date: December 17, 2021
There was no surprise when 14th ranked Shinagawa (2-20) was outleveled at home by ninth ranked Tokyo HT (11-11) 97-65 on Friday. Tokyo HT looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Shinagawa's players. The winners were led by American power forward John Fields (205-88, college: Tennessee) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import forward Chris Washburn (203-93, college: TCU) supported him with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Tokyo HT players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 16 points and 16 rebounds by forward Abu Philip (198-97) did not help to save the game for Shinagawa. Point guard Kunitatsu Ogata (179-97) added 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. Shinagawa's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Tokyo HT have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain ninth position with 11-11 record. Shinagawa lost sixteenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth place with 20 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
