Regular Season Round 18: Chiba - Yamaguchi 94-73
Date: December 11, 2021
There was no surprise when 11th ranked Yamaguchi (6-11) was outplayed on the road by second ranked Chiba (15-2) 94-73 on Saturday. Chiba had a 32-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was power forward Evan Ravenel (204-89, college: Ohio St.) who scored 27 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Four Chiba players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Robert Sampson (203-92, college: Georgia Tech) who recorded a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds and center Nicholas Evans (210-88, college: S.Indiana) added 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Chiba maintains second position with 15-2 record behind leader Nagasaki. Yamaguchi at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eleventh place with 11 games lost. Chiba will again meet at home Yamaguchi (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Yamaguchi will have a break next round.
