Regular Season Round 13: Yamaguchi - Shizuoka 71-85

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Shizuoka (10-2) defeated on the road 11th ranked Yamaguchi (4-8) 85-71 on Saturday. They outrebounded Yamaguchi 40-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. Beninese power forward Muusa Dama (207-96, college: EIU, agency: Blacktop Management) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and Argentinian forward Alexis Elsener (195-88, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Elsener is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Shizuoka players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Robert Sampson (203-92, college: Georgia Tech) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Atomu Yamada (179-98) scored 23 points and 4 steals. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Shizuoka have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 10-2 record. Yamaguchi lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh position with eight games lost. Shizuoka will meet at home league's second-placed Nagasaki in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Yamaguchi will play against Gifu (#8) and hope to secure a win.
