There was a small surprise in Saporro where tenth ranked Hokkaido L. (2-4) edged 7th ranked Niigata A. (2-4) 72-69 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was American forward Shawn Long (208-93, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Pensack Sports) who scored 22 points and 7 rebounds. The other American import DeMon Brooks (202-92, college: Davidson) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was South African center Tshilidzi Nephawe (208-89, college: NM State) who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and Filipino guard Kobe Paras (198-97, college: CSUN) added 18 points respectively. Niigata A.'s coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Hokkaido L. moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Niigata A. Niigata A. lost third consecutive game. Hokkaido L. will meet higher ranked Kawasaki BT (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Niigata A. will play against Sea Horses M.
