Regular Season Round 4: Fukushima - FE Nagoya 72-71

A very close game took place in Fukushima between Fukushima and FE Nagoya. Second ranked Fukushima (2-2) got a very close home victory over one of their biggest challengers FE Nagoya (3-1). Fukushima managed to escape with a 1-point win 72-71 on Monday evening. Fukushima looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Fukushima made 7 blocks. The winners were led by Finnish-American power forward Erik Murphy (208-90, college: Florida) who scored that evening 9 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Shota Kanno (187-92) supported him with 16 points and 5 assists. Even 17 points and 5 rebounds by American center Brian Qvale (208-88, college: Montana) did not help to save the game for FE Nagoya. Guard Takaya Sasayama (178-93) added 9 points and 5 assists for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Despite that victory Fukushima went down to third position due to points difference, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser FE Nagoya dropped to the second place with one game lost. They share the position with Fukuoka R. and Kumamoto V.. Fukushima will meet at home league's second-placed Fukuoka R. in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. FE Nagoya will play against the league's leader Yamagata and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
