Regular Season Round 1: Yamagata - Ehime OV 68-66

Yamagata used a home court advantage and edged the opponent from Matsuyama 68-66 on Saturday night. Strangely Ehime OV outrebounded Yamagata 40-27 including 32 on the defensive glass. American center Kenny Lawson (207-88, college: Creighton) nailed 19 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import forward Jawad Williams (204-83, college: UNC) accounted for 13 points and 6 rebounds. Yamagata's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American-Filipino forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: LBSU) came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 17 rebounds and American power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-90, college: Oklahoma) added 17 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Ehime OV in the defeat. Yamagata will again meet at home Ehime OV in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Ehime OV will have a break next round.
