There was an upset when higher ranked Iwate (23-13) lost to tenth ranked Kagoshima (7-29) in Renova 84-88 on Sunday. Senegalese center Diop Cheikh (210-97) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. American forward Desmond Hubert (207-92, college: UNC) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Kagoshima's coach used entire bench in such tough game. Canadian forward Erik Nissen (206-95, college: Acadia) replied with 27 points and 8 rebounds and Senegalese forward Bamba Diouf (198-93) added 20 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Iwate. Five Kagoshima and four Iwate players scored in double figures. Kagoshima maintains tenth position with 7-29 record. Loser Iwate keeps the fifth place with 13 games lost. Kagoshima will face higher ranked Tokyo HT (#7) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Iwate will play against Kanazawa and hope to win that game.
