Regular Season Round 59: Aomori W. - Fukushima 86-77

There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Aomori W. (7-49) won against at home 6th ranked Fukushima (25-29) 86-77 on Saturday. They outrebounded Fukushima 49-30 including 35 on the defensive glass. Aomori W. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Stephen Hurt (211-93, college: Kansas St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds. Point guard Yuichi Ikeda (183-97) contributed with 19 points and 8 assists for the winners. Four Aomori W. players scored in double figures. American forward Jordan Faison (201-94, college: CPP) answered with 25 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and Finnish-American power forward Erik Murphy (208-90, college: Florida) added 21 points in the effort for Fukushima. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Aomori W. maintains eighth place with 7-49 record. Loser Fukushima keeps the sixth position with 29 games lost. Aomori W. will face again higher ranked Fukushima (#6) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
