Regular Season Round 55: Yamagata - Aomori W. 86-70

Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Yamagata (26-27) defeated at home 8th ranked Aomori W. (6-47) 86-70 on Wednesday. Yamagata looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Scootie Randall (198-90, college: Temple) who led his team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. His fellow American import forward Lance Goulbourne (203-89, college: Vanderbilt) helped adding 18 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side Spanish-Dominican Orlando Sanchez (206-88, college: St.John's) responded with 8 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and American forward Stephen Hurt (211-93, college: Kansas St.) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Yamagata moved-up to fifth place. Aomori W. lost their eighth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with 47 games lost. Yamagata will face league's second-placed Ibaraki R. in Mito in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aomori W. will play at home against Sendai 89ers (#4) and hope to win that game.
