Very expected game in Kanagawa where 7th ranked Shiga L-Stars (16-31) were defeated by third ranked Toshiba Thunders (34-14) 77-71 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Shiga L-Stars were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Spanish Pablo Aguilar (203-89) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds. The former international power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) helped adding 21 points and 8 rebounds. Four Toshiba Thunders players scored in double figures. American forward Jordan Hamilton (201-90, college: Texas) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and Australian center Angus Brandt (208-89, college: Oregon St.) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Shiga L-Stars' coach Shawn Dennis tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Toshiba Thunders. Defending champion moved-up to second place. Shiga L-Stars lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 31 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will face Toyota Alvark (#6) in Tokyo in the next round. Shiga L-Stars will play at home against the league's second-placed Aishin Sea Horses and hope to win that game.
