Important game to mention about took place in Yamagata. Fourth ranked Sendai 89ers (25-17) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 5th ranked Yamagata (23-22) 74-73 in the game for the fourth place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Yamagata. Strangely Yamagata outrebounded Sendai 89ers 39-26 including 30 on the defensive glass. American swingman LeBryan Nash (201-92, college: OK State) nailed 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and guard Reiju Sasakura (187-97) accounted for 18 points and 5 rebounds. Four Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. American forward Scootie Randall (198-90, college: Temple) came up with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import forward Keith Clanton (205-90, college: UCF) added 6 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks respectively for Yamagata in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Sendai 89ers maintains fourth place with 25-17 record. Yamagata at the other side keeps the fifth position with 22 games lost. Sendai 89ers will play against Aomori W. (#7) at home in the next round. Yamagata will play against Koshigaya A. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
