Regular Season Round 42: Sendai 89ers - Kagawa FA 94-95

The most exciting game of round 42 in the B2 League took place in Sendai. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers Sendai 89ers (23-16) to fifth ranked Kagawa FA (19-23) 95-94 in the game for the fourth place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Sendai 89ers. American guard Terrance Woodbury (201-87, college: Georgia) scored 27 points and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Takayuki Kodama (166-92) chipped in 19 points and 6 assists during the contest. Woodbury is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was American Eric Jacobsen (208-94, college: ASU) with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Reiju Sasakura (187-97) scored 19 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sendai 89ers' coach Dai Oketani rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kagawa FA moved-up to fourth place which they share with defeated Sendai 89ers. Sendai 89ers at the other side keep the fourth position with 16 games lost. Kagawa FA will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sendai 89ers will play again at home against Kagawa FA (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
